1. Who we are
CookBook AI is operated by Jeremiah Alexander Meier (“we”, “us”). For personal data collected through cookbook.enterprises, we act as the data controller.
2. Data we collect
- Account data — name, email address, and login credentials when you create an account.
- Service data — recipes, meal plans, ingredients, shopping lists, and other content you generate or save in the app.
- Support data — messages you send us when contacting support.
- Usage and device data — log data, device identifiers, browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, and basic analytics about how features are used.
Payment data (card details, billing address, tax information) is collected directly by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, and is not stored by us.
3. Why we use it
- To create and maintain your account (contract performance).
- To provide and improve the service, including AI-generated recipes and plans (contract performance / legitimate interests).
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud or abuse (legitimate interests).
- To respond to support requests (contract performance / legitimate interests).
- To send service-related communications, and marketing where you have consented (consent).
- To comply with legal obligations (legal obligation).
4. Who we share it with
- Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, AI model, email, and analytics providers that help us run the service.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. How long we keep it
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
6. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data; to object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. UK and EEA users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details on cookbook.enterprises. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (typically one month).
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure — to protect your personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk.
9. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the service working. We may use limited analytics cookies to understand how the service is used. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the site.
